Hello! This website started out as a creative outlet to document all the experiences I am having with my first dog as an independent adult: Ezra the Berner. From seemingly easy training that ended up being not so easy (ahem, house breaking) to serious health issues like Canine Juvenile Cellulitis, Ezra and I battled through thick and thin. I know that raising a dog can be overwhelming, independent dog owner or not. And sometimes you want to give up. But don’t give up – having a dog was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made and I’m so glad he is mine.

While we are not experts in anything, we are problem solvers through everything. (Well, Ezra creates the problems and I troubleshoot them!) Big Dog Tails is my attempt at documenting what I have tried and learned, where I have failed and succeeded.

But more than that – through all our experiences, Ezra has become my heart dog. I truly believe all owners can develop deep, long-lasting relationships with their dogs too. We want to help you to do that. On this site, we will cover:

  • Tips and Tricks for dealing with your new puppy
  • Dog Training Advice
  • Dog Sports Advice
  • Essentials for Dog Owners
  • Basic Health & Wellness Questions
  • Recommendations for dog friendly vacations
  • Tips for traveling with a large dog
  • Advice on how to raise a needy dog independently

About Ezra

At the time of writing, Ezra is 11.5 months old and weighs 97 pounds. He loves his Grandma, napping in front of a fan, and laying in the grass under a shady tree. His favorite foods are peanut butter, cheese, and boiled chicken. He has two Yorkie cousins (same age as Ezra, but 10 lbs and 6 lbs) and wonders why they roll over and play dead instead of play with him. He thinks he’s a lap dog. He enjoys meeting new dogs and people and will sit on your feet seeking pets.

About the Author

Hi, I’m Kait! I work in big tech as a Product Manager in New York. I love learning new things, traveling, and watching my goofy Ezra. I am passionate about finding ways to have a more enriching life with my dog – through training, traveling, exercising, and playing. When I’m not working or hanging with Ezra, I enjoy writing, graphic design, sleeping in as late as possible, and looking at house listings online.
